Cairns is a small town in the North of Queensland. I lived here for a few months and I must admit it’s one of my favourite places in Australia. Cairns has become a popular destination for visitors looking for un unforgettable nature experience.
It has a tropical climate, beautiful natural surroundings, and gorgeous rainforests. It’s located close to the Great Barrier Reef. And this attraction by itself makes Cairns worth a visit. It’s an incredible natural wonder that you definitely should add to your travel bucket list.
I decided to spend my last days in Cairns in Riley Crystalbrook hotel and it was a perfect choice! Riley is a five-star luxury resort located next to iconic waterfront Esplanade. It features stylish rooms and suites, three restaurants and Cairns’ highest rooftop bar, Rocco; an expansive lagoon pool, the stunning spa, and a 24-hour fitness centre.
I stayed 2 nights in the Panoramic Sea room and I absolutely loved it! Especially my window view and a swimming pool.
As soos as I checked in, I got a nice surprise - welcome champagne and a cheese board. <3
My favourite part of the day was a morning coffee with a view for the Esplanade and a relaxing bath.

Before going for the adventures around Cairns, I enjoyed a complimentary buffet breakfast at Paper Crane. They have plenty of vegeterian options - cheese board, salads, fresh fruits, juices and delicious sweets.
Fresh smoothies in Greenfields restaurant which is part of the hotel.
My last night in Cairns, I spoiled myself with the best espresso martini ever at Rocco rooftop bar. My friend, Ewa ordered coctail called Cinnameeter - gin with freshly pressed citrus, soda, cinnamon, mint crown and limes. I have to try this next time! ;)
After a few drinks, we went for a dinner to Paper Crane restaurant. We ordered scorched cauliflower san choi bow and steamed bao bun for a starter, and wok-fried tofu with black bean sauce with Asian greens as a main dish. I am a big fan of Asian cuisine and Paper Crane definitely met my expectations. Especially deep fried vanilla gelato
with warm chocolate ganache,
and Oreo crumbs - heaven!
Last but not least, it's important to mention that Riley Crystalbrook really cares about our environment. They have a mission called #responsibleluxury. They said "no" to plastic water bottles, they replaced traditional plastic guest room key cards with 100% recycled wooden keycards. Also, their straws and take-away containers are plastic-free and fully degradable.
That's a huge step to protect our environment and I wish more hotels follow similar practicies.
Bravo Riley Crystalbrook!
